COJOCARU, Dora

Dora Cojocaru, born August 20, 1983 in Baia Mare, holds several concurrent academic professorships (Conservatory of Music in Cluj-Napoca and Şcoală Generală de Artă). Her compositions include stage music, choral, symphonic and vocal-symphonic works, chamber music, and art song. She has competed in national and international composition competitions and won an Honorable Mention in the Mozart Prize Competition in 1996. As a member of the Cappella Transilvanica Choir of Cluj-Napoca, she participated in international concert tours to Italy (1983), Greece (1984) and Bulgaria (1985).

In 1970, Cojocaru began her musical studies at the Liceu Muzică (High School for Music) in Baia Mare, completing them in 1980. A graduate of the Conservatory of Music in Cluj-Napoca (1982-1986), a historic Romanian center of new music, she studied with prominent composers Cornel Ţăranu, Dan Voiculescu, Tudor Jarda, Vasile Herman and Hans Peter Türk. Several years later Cojocaru pursued graduate studies at the Conservatory of Music in Köln, Germany (1991-1995).
